This project was designed to help us think about our future careers and explore different jobs and study paths. During this project, I met a career counselor, attended the Forum Horizon, took notes, prepared questions, and reflected on my skills and interests. After exploring various careers, I decided to focus on the job of a community manager, which I found interesting because of its importance in today’s digital world.
A community manager is responsible for managing a brand’s online community. They create content, respond to comments, handle customer issues, and make sure the brand’s image stays positive. The job involves working on social media platforms to keep the community engaged.
Community managers create content, reply to messages, and check how well their posts perform on social media. They must also keep up with trends and adjust their approach to keep the community active.
To succeed in this role, a community manager needs good communication skills to interact clearly with followers, knowledge of social media platforms, and creativity to make engaging posts. They also need to handle negative feedback and problems in a calm and professional way.
The job has challenges. Dealing with negative comments can be tough, especially because it often happens in public online spaces. The role can also be time-consuming because it requires constant attention to social media, and the working hours can be irregular. Lastly, since social media changes all the time, community managers need to be able to adapt quickly.
The role of a community manager fits well with my interest in digital communication and social media. I enjoy being creative and engaging with an online audience, and I believe I have the skills needed for this job. The challenges of dealing with negative comments and the demanding nature of the work are aspects I am prepared to handle as part of this career path.
